musically, i find FL Studio and electronic production in general to have the magical ability
to write and hear melodies which I do not currently possess the musical ability to play.
this song has hints of Al Hirt's "Green Hornet Theme" (yes from Kill Bill)
but my other general inspiration comes from Snail's House, which I absolutely adore.
ever since i started producing music as Emperor Steve,
people have told me it "sounds like video game music."
At the time, I felt like the comparison was somehow
degrading to what I believed I was making.
a lot has changed since then, but one thing that really helped me in producing ERA was remembering this...
before fatboy slim, before ATB, before aphex twin...
the first electronic music i ever loved was takashi tateishi's mega man 2 suite.
followed by Kazunaka Yamane's double dragon II.
I LOVE VIDEO GAME MUSIC. I think it's complex, fun, and exciting.
This song and piece of art is my homage to my earliest electronic inspirations.
