So... after working on 8 Bit Fightin' Music 2
I was definitely getting looser on how creative I was allowing myself to be.
So this song actually came from a really funny inspiration.
I was watching Bob's Burgers, and there's a scene where a rave promoter
is outside the restaurant passing out flyers.
Bob goes outside to ask him to move, but the promoter lists off
all the genres at the rave, ending with "Polynesian speed gospel."
I know a good joke genre when I hear one so I thought
...well I'm gonna make that, whatever it is.
So I set the tempo at 149, loaded a church organ plugin and a steel drum sample.
(I'm now aware that steel drum is more Caribbean than Polynesian, so it's a stretch but stay with me.)
It took me about half a chord progression before I realized... this is Dance Dance Revolution music.
So I paused and thought about it...do I want to make this knowing it's absolutely DDR?...
I thought back to high school. I loved DDR.
I spent hours at the mall's arcade playing it.
Me and my buddy used to BANG Trance and Happy Hardcore (DJ Sammy anybody?)
driving through the parking lot on our way to play it.
So to my surprise, I made yet another homage to the music I loved
when I was younger, which of course explains the title.
I never did get a Perfect Full Combo, but Crabtree Valley knows I tried.
A funny side note: When I tried to list J-Pop as the secondary genre,
Distrokid told me Spotify only accepts J-Pop songs in Japanese language,
so while the whole song is instrumental, this is the first song I've released "in Japanese."
