Panspermia

so when you think about art

and creativity

and creative expression...

the ability to create unique value for the other humans on the planet

by fixing things

and if nothing else

soothing the existential pain of reality

when i see how music and art can actually really truly help heal

i wonder... where did this ability come from?

and it follows a long chain of thoughts

that lead to

how in the fuck did life even end up happening on earth

it wasn't always here (was it?)

and while i get evolution (sort of)

and all that

it's like... what triggered all this?

how did earth go from water and a molten nickel core

to social media and space travel?

for me, i particularly enjoy the panspermia theory

which is basically that life exists throughout the universe

and it crashed into earth via meteorite

and those microorganisms formed the basis of life on earth

i just think it's kinda funny and cute that life is out there

and finally crashes into earth and is like

oh yay a habitable environment

whenever i think about this particular hypothetical asteroid

i actually like to imagine that it's mostly sodium

and that the oceans were freshwater

and then several planet sized explosions later

we got a whole mess of life stirred up

the other inspiration i had for this song

(as though the origin of life on earth wasn't enough)

was the book the little prince

because obviously the music box summons up childhood stuff

and i imagined this vivid story

about a little baby exploring space by itself

and you're like WOW SPACE BABY THAT'S AWESOME

but also kinda

AWW WHERE ARE THE SPACE BABY'S PARENTS

YOU SHOULDN'T BE FIXING THAT ROCKET BY YOURSELF LITTLE SPACE BABY

but THEN! THE SPACE BABY FINDS EARTH AND TADA!

LIFE ON EARTH.

but now we have stuff like parking tickets

don't worry space baby capitalism isn't your fault

Session Artifacts

Piano Roll - Panspermia - Music Box Theme

    Files coming soon.

This... was a photo of a concrete wall in an alley near where i live...

(see the original photo in the session artifacts)

i (still can't) couldn't for the life of me figure out

why these spots on the wall were smeared upwards

so i took a photo as i often do

and even before i got it into photoshop i was like...

this looks like a meteor shower

but it also kinda looks like sperm,

which of course leads us back to the title
