this song... is about capitalism

and what it does to people

there are two kinds (or more) of tired

one needs sleep, the other needs rest

in this world of late stage capitalism

people are constantly exploited

just to earn enough to survive

they are abused at work

by their bosses

by coworkers

by customers

to come home exhausted

but unable to sleep

traumatized by the situation they are in

and to do so in such a world

where the environment

and the government

and the society

just keeps churning out

horrible event

after horrible event

and yet

they find the strength to continue

to survive, yes certainly

but...

there's more than that.

there's a hope

that things might get better

and it is this glimmer of resilience

which may save us all one day
